The World Padel Day - Día del Pádel.

What is the World Padel Day?

The “World Padel Day” is a symbolic holiday for all padel enthusiasts ☺️, celebrated worldwide on October 20 📆. On this day, fans and players around the world celebrate the sport of padel. The initiative aims to connect the growing padel community and highlight the popularity of the game. World Padel Day was not officially established by any federation. Instead, October 20 gradually became established as a symbolic date within the global padel community.

Why is it celebrated on October 20?

The choice of date is no coincidence: a padel court measures exactly 20 meters in length and 10 meters in width. The numbers “20/10” have become a symbolic identifier for the global padel community. This “20-10” reflects the nature of the sport and makes the day unique. For this reason, it defines the date of World Padel Day. More information can be found here (in Spanish).

How do players celebrate World Padel Day?

Of course, by playing padel! 😄 Many clubs and associations worldwide, including in Austria, often organize friendly tournaments, trial sessions and special events around padel. Top players post on social media, and official organizations like the International Padel Federation call for special activities. The background is the sport’s rapid growth: padel is considered one of the fastest growing sports in the world!

More than 25 million people play padel in over 100 countries worldwide. 🚀

What does this day mean for Vienna and Austria?

Interest in padel is also steadily growing in Austria. In 2022, a World Padel Tour-tournament was held in Vienna for the first time.

Although there are not yet regular official World Padel Day events in Vienna, Austria’s padel community often uses the day for local activities or trial training sessions.

Overall, October 20 strengthens the sense of community: it is a “reflection of the passion” for padel and shows how quickly the sport is gaining importance in Vienna as well.
